Hester and Kuhn...step right up!

This was a fun sketch to do. The character here is Firebreather, the comic has been around for quite a while. I remember when it came out, Image was making a new push for superheroes back in the early 2000's. Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn created a new title with this character Firebreather. Slowly but surely it's increased in popularity and readership. This last  year a Cartoon Network animated film came out as well.

These are the kind of character suggestions Im really glad I got. I have plenty of mainstream superheroes from Marvel and DC comics, I have more than enough 80's properties cartoons and comics to draw, but these great smaller independent characters got snuck in as well.

This is a fun book, lots of action and cool "teenager dealing with being different" type of story throughout.
Check out more about it here:

Firebreather - 029

On the original around the bottom of the sketch I did a gray wash with Markers, but it scanned horribly. So I knocked it out in photoshop after the fact. So anyone that might want this sketch, you'll see it's actually got a markered background on the original.

  1. Love the sketch...thanks for bringing it to Chicago con this last weekend. I will let Phil Hester see it in person in Des Moines next month.
